A newspaper article detailing the Back Creek Lime Quarry, which reads,
"Back Creek Lime Quarry.
Mr. C. F. Fringer, near Lithia, on the S. V. R. R., has leased his limestone quarry to Wm. Booth & Co., of Roanoke City. The company are now engaged in getting out stone for shipment to the Roanoke furnaces, and will, as soon as cars can be obtained, ship almost 100 tons daily. They will also in the near future, erect kilns and stone will be burnt into lime on the ground and shipped to market. - The branch road from the main line has been completed to the quarry, and quite a scene of activity is presented, in striking contrast with what has been seen formerly. - These works are of vast importance, as they give employment to a number of hands, and will circulate a considerable amount of money in the neighborhood." - Creator
