5. DESCRIPTION
In the name of God Amen. I Samuel White of Fort Lewis County of Botetourt and State of Virginia do make and ordain and declare this instrument and every page thereof to be my last Will and Testament Revoking all others to whit:
Item: I give to the heirs of my son Wm. White, deceased, one dollar each, having given unto him as much as I intend.
Item - I give unto my daughter Nancy Walton and her heirs forever 210 A. of land joining John Johnston and John Zirele also 94 A. on the South Side of Roanoke R. and adjoining the lands of Wm. Walton Sen.
Item - To my son Edmond P. White I give one half of the tract near New London called Ned Taylor's in Campbell & Bedford Counties in addition to what I have heretofore given him and to his heirs forever.
Item - I give unto my son Samuel and his heirs forever that tract of land called Mount Hope situated on the South Side of the Main Road and above the head of Roanoke R. in Montgomery County also one half of Ned Taylor's tract near New London.
Item - I give unto my daughter Sally Jeter, one hundred dollars in addition to what I have heretofore given her.
Item - The dwelling house and the land attached thereto & all their appurtenances to remain as it now stands as a home for the single children which are now with me during their lives of celibacy and when Catherine, Polina or Jane think proper to get married each one will be entitled to their working hands, and three small ones. A horse, saddle, and bridle, a bedstead and furniture, a bureau, cow & calf.
To Francis I give the 100 A. Field and all the wood land attached thereto which I believe to be about 210 A. being on the South Side of the River Roanoke, A horse, saddle & bridle, A bedstead & furniture, a Bureau, A cow & calf to her & her heirs forever whenever she may marry.
Item - I give to my Son Alexander at the age of twenty-five the Mansion House with the land & other things attached thereto not otherwise disposed of reserving a home & support (such as they have been accustomed to) to such of my daughters who may then remain single & during their celibacy.
Item - To my daughter Betsy Ward I give to her & her heirs forever the tracts of land in the County of Campbell adjoining the town of New London and called the "Cottage" also a 10 A. lot in the inclosure [sic] of John Thompson, Dec. near New London in the same County.
Item - the tract of land above & adjoining Edmonds and on the North Side of the Main Road to be disposed of as the Executors think proper & the proceeds arising therefrom to be equally divided amongst the legates.
Item - I have appointed Wm. S. Walton & my son Edmond my Executors of this my Will & Testament.
Catherine is to have Mary as one of her grown hands and her increase in addition to the Remaining five as above mentioned.
Paulina is to have Sooky in the same manner.
Jane is to have Angeline in the same manner.
Francis is to have Harriet and her increase on the day of her marriage.
In witness whereof I have set my hand & affixed my seal. This the 22 day of Nov. in the year of our Lord 1832.

At Botetourt December Court 1831 this instrument of writing purported to be the last Will & Testament of Samuel White, dec. was this day exhibited in Court and proven by the oath of Nathaniel Burwell a subscribing witness. Then to be continued for further proff [sic] and at Feb. Court 1832 was fully proven by the oath of Charles Johnston another witness thereto & therupon ordered to be Recorded.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
Nancy Walton, son of Wm. Walton, daughter of Samuel White died Sept. 20, 1856.
Alexander White, Jr., grandson of Samuel White Died October 21, 1864 at Winchester, Wounded in thigh. Age 19 yrs. 5 mo.
Son of Alexander and Mary White of Roanoke Co.
Ira Jeter - Sallie White were married July 6, 1819 by Rev. Joseph D. Logan.
2200 A. added to 460 A. Grant by Geo. II through Sir William Gooch, Lieut. Governor of Virginia, to James Campbell." -
