- William Watson Boyd was born in 1815 to James Boyd and Mary Brisco Bryan Boyd-Martin. His tombstone says he was born on December 22, 1817, but his father died in 1815, and other sources note that he was born in 1815. He married Jane Caperton Erskine Boyd and his children include Alice Boyd Johnston, Jane Erskine Boyd, Rev. James William Boyd, Andrew Lewis Boyd, Agatha Boyd, and Mary Buchanan Boyd. He died April 8, 1866, and is buried in Boyd Cemetery.

Image 2 - A newspaper article from Richmond Whig, dated April 16, 1866, which reads,
"DEATH OF WILLIAM W. BOYD, ESQ.- We regret to learn of the death of this excellent gentleman, which event occurred on Sunday, the 8th instant, at his residence, in Buchanan, Botetourt county. Mr. Boyd was a Senator in the last Legislature from the district of which his county is a part, and enjoyed the fullest confidence and esteem of the entire community. He was a lawyer of large experience, and had attained an eminence in his profession. His health had been infirm for several years, and his death was not altogether unexpected. -
