The Women's Society of Christian Service of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church held its annual Christmas program and party Wednesday evening Dec. 15, at the home of Mrs. D. G. Shorter. The program consisted of a variety show by a group of youngsters and a skit by the adult division entitled 'Christmas in the News'. Gifts were exchanged and baskets prepared and distributed among the Shut-ins.

The Esther V. Worley Bible Class of Trinity United Methodist Church held its annual Christmas dinner meeting Tuesday evening at Traveltown Restaurant.

The Presbyterian Women of the Church had their Joy Gift program Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 8 p. m. in the church. The Elders and Deacons of the church who were meeting the same evening were invited to join with the women for refreshments.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Keller, daughter and son of Gastonia, N. C. spent the week end at the home of Mrs. Keller's father, John E. McCulloch.

Miss Mary Jo Alphin is spending some time in Richmond with her brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Davis.

Area churches will present Christmas programs as follows: Mt. Joy Church of the Brethren Friday night Dec. 17 with Mrs. Irene Proffitt as director. Cedar Bluff Baptist Church Saturday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. under the direction of Miss Debbie Hill. Three churches will present programs Sunday Dec. 19, the Buchanan Presbyterian at 6 p.m. this will be a Christmas Service entitled 'Praise Ye'. The choir of Trinity United Methodist Church will present the Christmas Cantata 'King Forever' at 8 p.m. at the Arcadia Chapel Wednesday, Dec 22, at 7:30 p.m. Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church will present a Christmas Pageant Thursday, Dec. 23, at 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Woodrow Rice. 'I will give you something to make you wise' will be the program theme. The Virginia Presbyterian Church program will be Friday, Dec. 24, at 7:30 p.m.

The Buchanan Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service Dec. 24, at 11 p.m. The public are invited to all programs.

The Rev. William A. Tiffany, Sr., minister of the Springwood Baptist Church was the speaker Monday at the supper meeting of the Buchanan Baptist men.

Mr. W. G. Strickland has returned to his home after being in The Community Hospital of the Roanoke Valley.
