A newspaper announcement of a wedding between Mae Obenshain, daughter of Mr and Mrs. John S. Obenshain, married John Kelley. It reads,
"Kelley-Obenshain.
At ten o'clock Tuesday morning, February eleventh, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Obenshain, of Mill Creek, Botetourt county, a pretty, but quiet wedding was solemniged, [sic] when their daughter, Miss Rae, became the bride of Mr. John Kelley, the Rev. P. C. Ryland officiating.
The bride wore a tailored suit of fawn colored cloth, with accessories to harmonize, and carried a beautiful bouquet of bride's roses.
Miss Martha Virginia Kelley, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, was attired in a gray tailored suit, and carried pink carnations. The groom had as his best man, Mr. J. Henry Obenshain, brother of the bride.
The parlors were very pretty, being decorated with potted plants. The bridal party entered the back parlor from the stairs, and to the strains of Lohengrin, passed to the front parlor where the ceremony was said, at the close of which the grand chords of Mendelssohn's wedding march pealed forth as a recessional, played by Mrs. Tillie Brugh.
Immediately after the wedding ceremony the wedding party left in an automobile for Roanoke, to take the noon train for Norfolk and other points, for a week's stay with friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Kelley are members of Mill Creek church, and regular attendants. Mr. Kelley being an usher and Mrs. Kelley one of the choir. Mr. Kelley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Kelley and is a most estimable young man, being a well known farmer and canner.
The presents of linen, silver, and china, were useful and beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. Kelley will be at home to their friends at their home on Mill Creek after February eighteenth.
Those present at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. James Goode, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Brugh, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Sifford, Mr. and Mrs. Pierre Brugh, Miss Annie Mae Brugh, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cumbie and children, of Roanoke; Mesdames R. D> Kelley, A. E. Johnston, and J. B. Crist; Misses Mary Kelley, Susie Obenshain, Myrtle and Kate Milton and Elisken Obenshain; Messrs. Paul D. Crist, Ira Sifford, Glen Simpson, and R. D. Kelley, Jr." - Format
