The following marriage which appeared in yesterday's Time-Dispatch, Richmond, is of local interest:
A pretty wedding of yesterday afternoon was that of Miss Phebe Whitney Brugh, daughter of Mrs. P. W. Brugh, and John Ewell McClaugherty, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. McClaugherty, which took place at Max Meadows. The Rev. D. K. Royall, pastor of the First Baptist church at Radford, performed the ceremony, and decorations were in Christmas greens, burning tapers and crimson flowers. The 'Bridal Chorus,' from Lohengrin, was played as the bridal party entered, and Mendelssohn's 'Wedding March' as a recessional. 'Traumerel' was rendered very softly during the service.
The bride entered with her brother, Ashby Brugh, who gave her in marriage, and wore a smart going-away gown of plum-colored cloth, with a modish hat to match. She carried a shower bouquet of Bride roses, and her only ornament was a diamond pendant, the groom's gift. Miss Nell McClaugherty was maid of honor and K. V. Brugh best man. The ushers were: Charles C. Crocket and J. C. McGavock.
Mr. and Mrs. McClaugherty have gone North on their wedding trip. Among the guests from a distance attending the ceremony yesterday were: E. A. Brugh, of Roanoke; K. V. Brugh, Louis Frantz, of Troutville; Miss nell McClaughtery, of Springwood; Miss Frances Brown, of Roanoke; Miss Emily Kent, of Draper; Miss Cynthia Kent, of Richmond; Mrs. Cary Jones and Miss Jones, of Petersburg; Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Crockett, of Roanoke; Mrs. J. G. Kent, of Berkley, Cal.; Miss Charlotte Kent, of Jackson, Miss. The wedding is of much interest in Max Meadows, where the bride made her home for several years. After January 15, Mr. and Mrs. McClaugherty will be at home at 912 Commerce street, s. w., Roanoke." - Format
