Images 4-5 - Last Will and Testament of John Evans, which reads,
"I, John Evans, of the town of Fincastle in the State of Virginia, being in feeble health but of sound mind and memory, to hereby make this my last will + testament, hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made. I will and devise to my beloved wife, Nancy Evans, all my interest in a certain house and lot in the town of Fincastle, situated on the N E Corner of Main and Back streets, and designated in the new plat of the said town as lot No 89, - and being the same lot purchased by me of Eliza Price and Charles T. Price - to have and to hold for the term of her - the said Nancy Evans' - natural life, and after her death - to my two grand-children Jacob Evans and Nannie Evans in fee. I desire + direct, however, that Matilda Hudson (the mother of the said Jacob and Nannie) and Nelson Hudson the said Matilda Hudson's present husband shall have a home in the house + lot hereby bequeathed until the said Jacob and Nannie shall both have attained the age of twenty one years. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the 26th day of November 1880. John Evans seal
