Removal of membership during the year included Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Morgan, by letter to Richmond–March 3, 1940. Mr. J. F. Echolds, a former member and Elder of Galatia was brought back to the cemetery here for burial, from Waynesboro in January.
Women’s Auxiliary: Officers and Secretaries: Presidents–Mrs. D. T. Smith (resigned November 30), Vice-President–Mrs. Bessie Edmond, Eagle Rock, Virginia; Secretary and Treasurer–Mrs. W. S. McClung, Eagle Rock, Virginia; Historian– Mrs. Howard McClung, Eagle Rock; Secretary of Missions and Secretary of Social Service–Mrs. C. B. Carrell, Eagle Rock; Min. Relief–Mrs. M. L. Bell, Eagle Rock; Secretary of S. and P. Life and Pastors Aid–Mrs. W. S. McClung; Secretary of Spiritual Life–Mrs. J. M. Painter, Gala; Secretary of Literature–Mrs. Willow Golden, Gala; Secretary-Foreign Missions–Mrs. Ray Clapsaddle, Gala.
The Auxiliary has only one circle with a membership of 14, with only 7 active members. The programs follow the plan of “Woman’s Work” with literature for each month. The most outstanding meetings were the November and February meetings. In November Mrs. Bessie Edmond was hostess to the group. At this time Mrs. Gilbert of Clifton Forge led the devotional, with Mrs. T. C. Bales also of Clifton Forge as guest speaker on the study book “Chapels”. This book has been read by the members. The December, January and February meetings were held jointly in the home of Mrs. Edmond at which time the Mt. Carmel group were invited to enjoy the review of the book “From Tragedy To Triumph” which was given by Mrs. Brown of Salem. Others guests of this meeting included Mrs. Everett Repass and Mrs. Bowman of Salem.
The last meeting of the year was held with Mrs. Ray Clapsaddle at which time reports were made, and Mrs. Bessie Edmond of Eagle Rock

was elected President, Mrs. C. B. Correl of Eagle Rock, Vice-President. The other officers were not changed. The budget of $40.00 was met–the following donations were also made to other causes: Pastor’s salary $10.00, Red Cross work $1.00, Birthday Offering $5.75 at this time a part of the Pageant was given, donation to the evangelistic service held by Mr. Lehman $10.00. Fruit and flowers were sent to ill members also cards to those who were ill or in sorrow.
