Mrs. Minnie McClung Bell, our last charter member of Galatia Church passed away on March 26, 1954, in Culpeper, Va.
Mrs. Bell was born in Rockbridge County June 27, 1866. That same year her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. McClung, moved to Botetourt County to the McClung homstead, which is near our church. She spent the greaterpart of her life in and around Eagle Rock, the wife of Dr. James B. Bell whom she married April 27, 1891.
Mrs. Bell had a quiet, sweet manner and will long be remembered for her quiet Christian faith and love for her many friends. She was buried in Galatia Cemetery. The services were conducted by Dr. T. C. Bales of Clifton Forge, Va.
We women of the church welcome our new pastor and his wife to our group. Mr. C. E. Davidson of Clifton Forge was ordained as supply pastor of our church on August 15, 1954 by Dr. T. C. Bales, Dr. W. M. Gilmer of Clifton Forge and Dr. James C. Clarke of Covington. Both Mr. and Mrs. Davison are quite active in all organizations of the church work and are an inspiration to each of us. Their home is near Clifton Forge where Mr. Davidson holds a position.
