Women of the Church History-1957
For our circle programs we used the regular workbook materials as they are given for each month.
On June 28th at 7:30P. M. Mrs. Graham Wood of Lowmoor presented, as guest speaker, our special Bible study. The Minor Prophets as she presents them gave us significant messages for our day.
1. Amos- The Failure of Man.
2. Moses-The Love of God.
3. Micah-The Hope of the Future.
4. Hobakkak-The Call of Faith.
5. Zechariah-The Coming Lord.
6. Malachi-The Waiting People.
Mrs. Wood is an outstanding Bible student and while very modest is an interesting forceful speaker. A social hour followed.
We as a group also had special study of our World Mission booklet “Island Beautiful.”
Special emphasis for the year was placed on the aged, ill, lonely, and needy living in and around our community. These were remembered with visits, prayers, cards, flowers, candy etc. Special contributions were also made to Bible being taught in our public schools, Cancer Fund, Bible society, Rescue squad, and March of Dimes Fund.
At Christmas a special gift, a home-made fruit cake, was sent to Mrs. Earl King Jr., in Belgian Congo. Mrs. King the former Virginia Wood is the daughter of the late Rev. B. L. Wood who was at one time our pastor.
One evening during October was spent in folding bandages from old sheets. These were sent for Hospital use in Belgin Congo.
