We the undersigned members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church being desirous that the doctrines of Christ as held and taught by the Immortal Luther might be continued to be taught amongst us and our children, to the welfare of our eternal souls. And being also desirous to have the word of life statedly preached to us and the Holy Sacraments administered, we in firm reliance upon Almighty God, determined upon the first of September 1828 to form our selfs into a congregation under the name of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glade Creek, Botetourt Cty, Virginia, and [[strikethrough]] in order [[/strikethrough]] that order might be observed amongst us we have elected the Rev’d Danl. J. Houer as Pastor
Benjamin Kessler as Elder &
Henry Spickard as Deacon of
the congregation, and in them and their successors we invest by these presents all the Authority invested in them by the Lutheran Church in the United States of North America. In testomony we have hereunto subscribed our names.
