CHURCH HISTORY

1889 1950

In 1880 the Bonsack Baptist Church was organized in the village of Bonsack and was known as Hebron Baptist Church. The name was changed to Bonsack in August, 1889. The little white building which first housed the church was completed and dedicated on January 27, 2889.

During the year 1948 the first educational building was added and in 1950 the auditorium was completely remodeled. In 1957 the church voted to build the second educational building.

On September 26, 1971 a ground breaking service was held for the construction of the first unit of our new building to be located on a new site on State Route 604. On November 19, 1972, services were held for the first time in the new building. By 1977 the church was outgrowing the facility and a building fund was begun to add a second unit including a larger sanctuary.
